Book 1: How to Train Your Dragon Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, son of the Viking chief, is sent to capture a dragon with a horde of other Vikings his age. Each boy must train his dragon to follow simple commands by the Thor'sday Thursday festival, or be banished from the tribe. Hiccup is not a natural yeller, leader, or hooligan, which are all characteristics prized in his community. He finds a new way to try to train his dragon, but will it earn him the respect of his father and his tribe? Book 2: How to Be a Pirate
Book 3: How to Speak Dragonese Book 4: How to Cheat a Dragon's Curse Book 5: How to Twist a Dragon's Tale Book 6: A Hero's Guide to Deadly Dragons Book 7: How to Ride a Dragon's Storm Book 8: How to Break a Dragon's Heart Book 9: How to Steal a Dragon's Sword Book 10: How to Seize a Dragon's Jewel and more Book Review: Cleverly written and infinitely more funny and enjoyable than the movie, this book does not disappoint. While the movie was a predictable action/adventure story, the book's characters and events are quite different, with more depth and surprises. It's like Captain Underpants's more sophisticated, and enviably cooler older brother, if he had more heart and brain to back up his witticisms. Even if you dislike low-brow humor involving drooling, belching, and Viking insults, you will find more than enough to make you laugh and cheer about as you read this book.
