Book Summary:
Told from the perspective of the youngest of three siblings - Mycroft and one Sherlock Holmes being the elder brothers- Enola wakes on her birthday to discover her mother has disappeared. Worse, when her brothers arrive to investigate, they decide to send Enola to boarding school so she can become a "proper" English lady. There are more books in the Enola Holmes series, which offer up separate mysteries in addition to Enola's quest to understand her complicated family. Book Review:
Filled with clues, action, and an energetic protagonist, the pacing moves quickly and leaves you wanting to reach for the next installment. Some danger and some complex vocabulary make this a good title for upper elementary and middle school readers. "Legally, at age fourteen I did not yet exist. So who on Earth did I think I was - Enola Ivy Holmes Meshle Mrs. Ragostin - to attempt the monstrous hoax that was my life?" |
