Hachiko Waits
|
Book Summary:
This is a fictional story based on some true characters, including Hachi, the beloved Akita of Professor Ueno. Every morning, Hachi would accompany the professor to the train station, and every afternoon, Hachi would meet the train. After the professor's death, Hachi continued to meet the train faithfully each day. Set in Shibuya, Japan, starting in 1924, this is Hachiko's story. Book Review: This is a short book that emphasizes kindness and loyalty. Although Yasuo, the boy in the story, is a fictional character, his growth to adulthood through the course of the book is a good vehicle to illustrate the passing of time. If you've ever been loved by a dog, you will connect to this book. Dogs and tears, people. Worth it. "'He returned just before three o'clock. It was as if he knew when you would arrive.' |
