Ever After High: Storybook of Legends

by Shannon Hale

Book Summary

The daughter of the Evil Queen in the story of Snow White is destined to re-live that tale, but she's having some doubts about the whole Life-As-An-Evil-Person business. This book is a look at what the children of fairy tales might be like as they attend magical high school, before moving on to their respective pre-determined stories.

Book Review

Fans of the Newbery-honored Princess Academy by the same author might find it hard to recognize this fluffy text - but it's fluff with some charm. The Princess Academy title would probably actually work better with this book, because it implies a lot of traditional "princess-y" mentality that is absent in that work and dressed in pink and purple glory here. If you aren't put off by the "hexting" and fashion descriptions, you'll note that the heroines are still in charge, and although there are some crushes, they don't drive the story.
